I really like this and highly recommend it to any FM blues fan. Janet Chandler Top Contributor: The Beatles. And thank you Mick for sequencing and approving the release of this truly outstanding live performance.
For anyone who is a fan of the original Fleetwood Mac lineup "Shrine '69" is a must have to include in your music library. Recorded on January 25th in Los Angeles this is a musical document of a young band who only formed two years before are gaining notoriety as a superb blues band.
For the benefit of those not familiar with Fleetwood Mac before this lineup includes, of course, Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass guitar. A better rhythm section for a band you cannot find. This recording is pure out and out blues. Not the kind of music people today expect to hear from the Mac.
But for anyone who loves blues music this is a joy to listen to. The album itself starts out a little bit off beat. The first couple of minutes consists of the guys tuning up before they are introduced to the crowd. After that however for the next 8 songs shows just how great this original lineup was. The band is tight and playing very well off of each other creating some memorable music.
The record ends with the boys playing an interesting version of the rock and roll classic "Great Balls Of Fire". Not a bad version but it does seem to me to be a little out of place with the blues sound and feel of the rest of the album. How fortunate we though are it was being recorded so that those of us who couldn't be there in person can still enjoy listening to this recording.

Thirty years later he along with Mick Fleetwood would pick out and release some of those songs on this CD. I am a big fan of the original Fleetwood Mac and have almost all the their records and recordings made from to I have always enjoyed especially their live recordings. Their studio recordings are certainly great but this was a band that seemed to really be at their best at making music when they were in front of an audience. These sets really demonstrates just how good they were when in concert. A friend of mine had this on one day when I was over to his house and I ordered my copy as soon as I got home.
If you like early Fleetwood Mac, this one is a 'must have' disc in my estimation. The playing here is top notch and really has that LIVE feeling. Sound quality is superb. I'm not sure I can recommend this one enough. Some musician friends in high school recommended Kiln House to me when it first came out, and I've been a big Fleetwood Mac fan ever since. This is so Good,,,,. One person found this helpful.
Another of their Jazz series. Some songs sound like they were recorded live The inside says it was recorded mono, then transcribed. Don't know why it is so infrequently performed but I like the version here as I love everything on this album with the exception of track Peter Green is God! See all 29 reviews.

Arnold Grove , Jan 21, Has anyone else had the pleasure of seeing Fleetwood Mac sing "Farmer's Daughter" on stage? I remember thinking it was a throw away when I bought the original double LP - but it grew on me - especially because it was a connecting link from a s pop favorite to a s pop favorite.
Even more interesting when you realize that Christine was attached to Dennis Wilson towards the end of his life. I was in complete shock when they sang it during the tour. I presume it was played every night on that tour - but I'm not entirely sure. When I went to see Fleetwood Mac last month, I was hoping for a chance to see it played live again. But as the concert was winding down and I realized there was probably only 5 or 6 more songs left, I took out my phone and I peaked at some set lists from the previous nights on the tour.
Much to my disappointment, I did not see "Farmer's Daughter" listed. Then I got suddenly happy when I realized that I had the Beach Boys original sitting on the Ipod classic in my pocket. So I readied the Ipod for the eventual conclusion of the Fleetwood Mac concert. As soon as the concert was over, and the house lights came up - I put in my ear buds and listened to "Farmer's Daughter" on repeat for what seemed like 20 times as I walked from the venue to my car.
It was a very cool feeling!!! I honestly wanted to hunt down the stage door and demand that someone go get Ms. Nicks so she could hear something on my Ipod Not exactly Fleetwood Mac, but the Buckingham-Nicks album is stellar. A must have as far as I'm concerned. Todd W. You must log in or sign up to reply here. Show Ignored Content. Share This Page. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account?
